A Blessing for Space

More often than not, I let silence begin and end the time I share with my directees. God works with the silence and we can sometimes hear better when we slow down ourselves to listen — especially when we have spent so much time wondering aloud about what in the world God is doing but recently I’ve felt drawn to words and am pulling prayer books off my shelf to bless the space between us.

For many of us, December is a season full of busyness. There is much to be done and little time to pause. There is no room to move around and breathe. It is a mad dash and so I offered this blessing at the end of recent session because we all need more space.

This blessing is from Ordinary Blessings: Prayers, Poems and Meditations for Everyday Life by Meta Herrick Carlson.

I pray you find the air you need right now.
